Mideast Beast – Islamic Antichrist Theory

Mideast Beast - Islamic Antichrist Theory

Following is an extract from Joel Richardson’s book Mideast Beast which explores the link between Islam and the Christian End Time narrative specially looking at where the Anti-Christ could come.

AS WE BEGIN OUR STUDY, our purpose will be to briefly survey some of the most important prophetic passages regarding the Day of the Lord and Christ’s return. The study is certainly not comprehensive. Our focus will be the specific nations emphasized as being reserved for judgement on the Day of the Lord. What we will see is the same general story repeated many times.

Our study must begin in the third chapter of Genesis, often referred to as the “protoevangelium” by theologians, because in this very first book of the Bible, albeit in seed form, we are introduced to the wonderful news of messianic hope. We all know the story: In the beginning, there was one word to describe the nature of God’s creation: good. Adam and Eve were in the Garden, and things were ideal in every way. God and man were in perfect communion, dwelling together in paradise. But through their own sinful choices, in agreement with the temptation of Satan, Adam and Eve rebelled against God’s commands, and humankind fell into the broken state in which we now all find ourselves. We are living far from paradise, far from unbroken communion with God, all slumping toward the day when our bodies die and decay.

But this present state is not how things are supposed to be. Neither will it remain this way. After God’s redemptive plan is complete, sin and death will be things of the past. By “God’s redemptive plan” we are simply referring to the unfolding story of God bringing humankind back to eternal life, back to the Garden, back to paradise, and back to the place of unbroken communion and fellowship with Himself. It is the restoration and redemption of all creation, precisely what the apostle Peter meant when he spoke of “the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began” (Acts 3:21).

This is the “big story” of the entire Bible. And so here, in the midst of the story of Adam and Eve and Satan the serpent, in one simple verse, God gave an overview of the entirety of redemptive history: “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15). Eve, the mother of all humanity, sinned, and God declared that from that day forward there would be hostility between herself and Satan. Beyond this, Satan’s “seed,” or followers, would be at enmity with the offspring of Eve, those who are not followers of Satan. But even more important, Satan’s seed would be at war with the “Seed,” which is the Messiah, and His followers. According to this ancient prophecy, history would be the story of the people of Satan in conflict with the people of God.

Then comes the glorious promise that although Satan would merely bruise the heel of the Messiah, in the end, the Messiah will crush the skull of Satan as well as his followers. From the very beginning of humankind’s long history, God declared that Eve’s “Seed,” the Messiah, will make right all of the damage done on that very sad and dark day in the Garden. In a single verse, in one brief declaration, we have a synopsis of redemptive history. It is appropriate, then, that scholars James E. Smith and Walter C. Kaiser Jr. refer to this verse as “the mother prophecy.”[1] It is this prophecy that gives birth to all of the other prophetic promises in Scripture regarding the Messiah. For the remainder of this chapter, we will examine several of her prophetic children. As we will see, while each passage delivers new or additional details, all are expansions of the same original story.
